We are at the very source of the product and pass on this know-how from generation to generation, so much so that we are now a Living Heritage Company and hold a Tourism Quality label for maintaining age-old expertise.
With already 160 years of existence, our soap maker carries on a recipe passed down to each new generation of master soap-makers. Saponification takes place in our old cauldrons according to a traditional method... Following the recipe certified by Colbert's Edict in 1688 and consolidated by Napoleon Bonaparte's decree of 1812, we manufacture it in five steps: pasting, graining out, boiling, washing and liquidation. These five steps are the reason for the iconic soap's renown.
Logo of authenticity: All our soap makers are part of the founders of the UPSM (Union des Professionnels du Savon de Marseille), literally Union of Marseille Soap Professionals, which strives for the certification of authentic Marseille soap.
